DatumX Converter Early Access

Linked model conversion for Revit. DatumX Converter converts a linked IFC model into a native Revit link, so a federated model built from IFC imports coordinates, filters and displays like one built entirely in Revit.

5No manual re-import
01
IFC links are second-class citizensSlower to open, limited Visibility/Graphics control, and awkward to filter or override compared with a native Revit link.
02
Manual re-import, every updateEvery time the source IFC changes, someone has to redo the conversion by hand instead of just re-linking.
03
Coordination breaks at the seamsA federated model that's part-native, part-IFC behaves inconsistently — different performance, different graphics rules, different everything.
Inside DatumX Converter

One command, a fully native federated model

Point it at a linked IFC model and get back a native Revit link in its place — same coordination, better performance.

Convert Linked Model

IFC in, native Revit link out.

Converts a linked IFC model into a native Revit (.rvt) link, kept positioned and coordinated the same way the IFC link was — so downstream views, filters and schedules keep working.

  • Preserves shared coordinates and positioning
  • Re-run whenever the source IFC changes — no manual rebuild
  • Resulting link gets full native Visibility/Graphics control
  • Works alongside DatumX and DatumX Creator's own linked-model scanning
Why DatumX Converter

A federated model that behaves like one model

Mixed IFC/native federated models coordinate inconsistently. DatumX Converter closes that gap.

⚡

Native link performance

A converted link opens and regenerates like any other Revit link — not held back by IFC's overhead.

▤

Full graphics control

Visibility/Graphics overrides, filters and view templates apply the same way they do to any native link.

↻

Re-run, don't rebuild

Source IFC updated? Re-run the conversion instead of manually redoing view setup and overrides from scratch.

⧉

Built for the same federated workflow

Shares its approach to linked-model handling with DatumX and DatumX Creator, so all three plugins treat your federated model consistently.

How it works

From a linked IFC to a native link

Select the IFC link

Choose which linked IFC model in the current project to convert.

Convert

DatumX Converter builds a native Revit link in its place, keeping it positioned exactly where the IFC link was.

Work as normal

Apply Visibility/Graphics overrides, filters and view templates the same way you would on any native link.

Re-convert on update

When the source IFC changes, re-run the conversion rather than rebuilding view setup by hand.
